Having backers helps to secure a seat, but so does having a father in the business: Carlos Sainz Jr., Johnny Ceccotto Jr., and Kevin Magnussen, who are all sons of famous racers, managed to snag test slots with Red Bull, Toro Rosso, and McLaren, respectively.
Also testing at Silverstone, we'll see Susie Wolff (wife of Mercedes F1 boss Toto Wolff) racing for Williams; Briton James Calado for Force India; Spaniard Sergio Canamasas and American Alexander Rossi for Caterham; and Cypriot GP3 driver Tio Ellinas and Venezuelan Rodolfo Gonzales for Marussia.
The Red Bull will also test the always-exciting while Russian Danil Kvyat will drive for Toro Rosso.
Davide Rigon is Ferrari's choice while another Italian, Davide Valsecchi, will drive for Lotus.
