Here's a well-done video by the Red Bull folks about Rhys Millen's attempt to break the 10-minute mark at this year's Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in his specially-built 750-bhp RMR Hyundai PM580 race car.
Couple of thoughts:
1) You could always tell when Millen was heading toward you on the mountain, because you'd hear (and then see) a helicopter shooting video before he'd arrive, whether it be for practice, qualifying or the race.
2) The video includes comments from Rhys's dad, Rod Millen—the former Pikes Peak record holder. And it was neat to see these two interact in person on the Saturday "off day" before the race, when Rhys was attempting to dial in the chassis (unfortunately unsuccessfully). You could tell how much respect Rhys has for "the old man," and how much he values his input. Cool stuff.
3) Red Bull isn't afraid to throw money around.
Anyway, enjoy the video.
