It's not unusual to see a high-powered dragster pull a wheelie at the beginning of a race–that's why they have wheelie bars at the back to keep them from turning over. It is unusual to see a dragster pull a wheelie in the middle of the race, but that's exactly what happened to funny car driver Cruz Pedregon last weekend.
At a Las Vegas race, Pedregon's funny car went up on two wheels in the middle of the race, likely due to wind, but he managed to wheelie his way across the finish line. Pedregon's challenger, Robert High, had a problem with his dragster, so Pedregon managed to win the race, completing the quarter-mile in 4.244 seconds at 218.55 mph.
An amazing result for what could have potentially gone very wrong. that Pedregon walked away from this incident unscathed, but unfortunately, his car sustained too much damage to continue competition.
