The specs of the Mercedes-AMG E63 S and Porsche Panamera Turbo are rather similar. Both are all-wheel drive, twin-turbo V8 German luxury sedans with enough power to rip your face off, and smoke almost every other car on the road. Sure, they might look different, but on paper, they're almost identical. Almost.
The E63's 603-horsepower V8 has a 53-horsepower bump over the Panamera's engine, giving it a slight edge in power. Additionally, it has 60 more lb.-ft. of torque. Those advantages, along with some short gearing, are enough to beat out the almighty Porsche four-door in a drag race, as finds out.
The U.K.-based publication brought the two cars together to see if the spec sheet actually played out as everyone expected, and of course, it did. The Mercedes crosses the quarter-mile line in 11.5 seconds, while the Panamera manages just 11.8 seconds.
Watch for yourself as the two German brutes climb to over 160 mph on an airstrip somewhere in England.
