According to a recent release, Buick says it has already sold 100,000 LaCrosses in China—in less than one year after its launch there. In fact, in the first six months of this year alone, a LaCrosse powered by a 3.0-liter diesel accounted for 80 percent of all new car sales in China's upper-medium sedan segment, which is for cars priced over $44,200.
Buick, present in the Chinese market for ages, enjoys a great reputation there, and the new LaCrosse has won several of the country's prestigious awards, including the 2009 China Car of the Year and the 2009 Champion Car of the Year. While the luxurious and spacious LaCrosse isn't exactly a sports sedan of the variety that we savor at R&T, record sales growth in China proves that the increasingly mobile Chinese are flocking to the Buick brand.
