McLaren announced back in February that its newest supercar, the 720S, could run the quarter-mile in a scant 10.3 seconds. Now, owners are getting their hands on cars, and they're finding it can go even quicker.
Brooks from recently took delivery of a 720S and decided to take it to the drag strip at Palm Beach International Raceway. On one of his passes, he was able to record a quarter-mile time of 9.98 seconds at 141 mph—more than 0.3 seconds quicker than the factory's time.
Brooks made it clear the car was completely unmodified, right down to the OEM P Zero tires. During the run, Brooks also recorded a 0-60 times of 2.5 seconds and a 0-100 times of 5.2 seconds. This is hypercar levels of performance. The car's 710-horsepower 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and 3128-pound wet weight might have something to do with it.
Watch for yourself as the 720S demolishes the drag strip.
