The Newly Refreshed Mazda 6 Is Slightly More Expensive

Mazda has applied three sets of updates to the in the past two model years. For 2017, it received G-Vectoring Control a mid-model-year revision that increased standard equipment, and a 2018 full refresh included new looks and the addition of a turbocharged four-cylinder engine to the lineup. Yet pricing for one of our favorite sedans has only ticked up ever so slightly. The base 2018 Mazda 6 with a six-speed manual transmission will start at $22,840.

The 2018 6 Sport’s $22,840 opening price is only $5 more than the 2017.5 6’s $22,835 starting cost. To equip the Sport with a six-speed automatic transmission, customers will have to pay an additional $1050. With the automatic, another $625 gives Sport buyers the iActivsense package, which includes adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beams and headlights, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The Touring comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission at $26,590 and adds leatherette seating, 19-inch aluminum wheels, keyless entry, heated front seats, a six-way power driver’s seat, rear HVAC vents, and a power sunroof.

The Grand Touring model introduces the Skyactiv-G 2.5T, which makes 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, to the lineup and has a starting price of $30,090. It also comes with an 11-speaker Bose audio system, SiriusXM satellite radio, navigation, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated side mirrors, and paddle shifters. Starting at $32,590, the Grand Touring Reserve trim features leather seats, a head-up display, an eight-way power driver’s seat, a six-way power front passenger seat, adaptive headlights, bright silver wheels, a rear lip spoiler, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and (for the first time) ventilated front seats.

For $35,640, the Signature is the ultimate Mazda 6. The Signature experience includes nappa leather seats and suedelike material, Japanese sen-wood interior accents, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, a 7.0-inch TFT gauge display, a frameless rearview mirror, and a gunmetal-dolor grille.

Look for the 2018 Mazda 6 to hit showrooms in April.
