While all hype from these days has been about the Kizashi, and deservedly so judging from how the car has performed in our tests, we've heard developing reports about the Swift Sports that may raise a few eyebrows here in the U.S. Suzuki is contemplating bringing its popular sporty car, sold only in Japan and Europe, over to the U.S. Therefore, there are reports that the next-generation model will be slightly larger than the current one.
Our sources have also told us that the next-generation Japan-market model will most likely use the current 1.6-liter inline-4, but don't be surprised to see a U.S. version come with a 1.8-liter or 2.0-liter. There's also a good chance that these engines will be mated to semi-automatic DSG gearbox. Now that VW has bought a large stake in the Japanese company, there will be lots of sharing going on, in terms of technology, parts and development.
A Suzuki Swift Sports with more power and an semi-automatic gearbox...signs like a match made in heaven.
