The Exorcist was first revealed back in April of 2017 by Hennessey as a bow-tie aftermarket alternative to the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. For $55,000, the Texas tuner will turn your Camaro ZL1 into a 1000-horsepower monster capable of 0-60 in less than three seconds and a quarter-mile in under 10. Now, we've learned the car can top 200 mph, by a long shot.
Hennessey Performance released a video today on showing the Exorcist reaching 217 mph at the Continental Uvalde Proving Grounds high-speed oval, at the hands of Ford Performance School driver Brian Smith.
The Exorcist's top speed is 19 mph faster than the stock ZL1's factory-quoted speed of 198 mph, and 15 mph faster than the fastest recorded speed for a Dodge Demon. It also matches the top speed of a McLaren P1. And keep your eyes peeled for John Hennessey riffing on the "Exorcist" name with a box-and-open-wrench crucifix.
All that's left is to see if the Exorcist can defeat the Demon in the quarter-mile.
