Makers of the most luxurious cars on sale, Bentley and Rolls-Royce, have each recently debuted their first-ever SUVs. The Bentayga and Cullinan are just as comfortable and well-appointed as we'd expect them to be, but the ultimate question remains: Which is quicker in a drag race? Well, now we have an answer.
brought the two ultra-luxury SUVs together on track for a straight-line drag to settle the question once and for all. The Bentayga is a 542-horsepower twin-turbo V8 model driven by host Drew Stearne, while the Cullinan is forced along by a twin-turbo V12 making 563 horsepower, driven by Top Gear host Rory Reid. The Cullinan is more powerful, but it's also roughly 500 pounds heavier. On paper, the two rigs should be pretty even. In reality, the Bentley blows the Cullinan right out of the water.
The Bentley's sport mode and lighter curb weight means it can explode off the line, leaving the Rolls-Royce in the dust despite its power disadvantage. Though it lost the race, we have a feeling Cullinan buyers aren't going to care too much—neither of these things were built for drag racing, after all.
