Back when Alfa Romeo revealed its Stelvio SUV to the world, it claimed the hottest version—the Quadrifoglio—would be the fastest SUV to ever lap the Nurburgring. Alfa hasn't released a time yet—the lap time claim is based on simulations. But this latest spy video has us thinking we might have a real lap time soon.
This clip, uploaded to the YouTube channel, shows not one, but two different Alfa Romeo Stelvios testing on the Green Hell during one of the track's industry test pool sessions. One of the cars is covered in swirly camouflage, while the other wears a more subtle, black paint.
We're not sure about what engines hide underneath, but both cars sound a lot like the Giulia Quadrifoglio sedan that shares the top-tier Stelvio's 2.9-liter 503-horsepower twin-turbo V6. The SUVs also have the same cloverleaf five-spoke wheels seen on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio that debuted at the LA Auto Show last year.
The SUVs sure look fast, but can they take the Nurburgring crown? Only time will tell. In the meantime, watch some of the 'Ring action right here.
