There's a new Ford Ranger coming to the US market soon. There's also talk of a Ranger Raptor, a hardcore off-road version of the upcoming midsize pickup. Now, a fan forum has dissected all the evidence to try to figure out what the Ranger Raptor will look like.
—a site dedicated to, you guessed it, the fifth-generation Ford Ranger—fans have been poring over this video of a camouflaged Ranger Raptor testing in the Australian Outback. "We dissected that footage and digitally peeled back the camouflage to show what the Ford Ranger Raptor may very well look like," Ranger5G's Tom Wilson writes.
And the renderings look good! Check out the beefy flares, the wide-mouth grille, and the heat extractors in the hood—all design features shared with the big-boy F-150 Raptor.
Now, before you get all crazy-eyed and excited, we should warn you: We spoke with a Ford representative the day that video went out. The rep informed us, definitively, that the Ranger Raptor shown in the video—the one that Ranger5G.com based these renderings on—will only be available in Australia and New Zealand.
We've reached out to Ford to ask again, on the chance that maybe those plans have changed. If we hear from Ford, this post will be updated.
