BMW has been teasing us with the possibility of an M version of its X3 crossover for years now, but now, thanks to this latest spy video, it seems the X3 M is closer to production than ever.
Nurburgring YouTuber spotted this partially camouflaged BMW X3 testing at the limit on the Nordschleife during a recent industry test pool session. Why do we think it's the X3 M? Well, the most telling sign is the exhaust setup—there are four exits, two on each side. It's a signature feature of every modern M car since the Z3 M Coupe and Roadster. Also, it looks really quick. Here, watch for yourself.
There's no official word on what sort of engine will power the X3 M, but we're guessing it'll be a version of the twin-turbo straight-six found in the current M2 Competition, M3, and M4—that's just speculation, however.
