As we edge ever closer to the Valkyrie's official debut next year, we're learning more and more about the hybrid V12-powered hypercar from Aston Martin. Andy Palmer, the company's CEO, just dropped a video on highlighting that F1-based Cosworth V12's sound for the first time. It's intoxicating.
Here's a refresher on what makes this engine so special. It's a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated unit loosely based on Cosworth's 2.4-liter V8 Formula 1 engine, rumored to produce upwards of 1130 horsepower (and yes, that's before you factor in the extra hybrid power), which would make it the most powerful production engine on the planet. In a world of forced induction, it certainly stands out.
The engine sound is dubbed over a rendering of the car, seemingly taken inside a room (possibly a dyno test?). It sounds downright fantastic. As a reminder, the engine is said to have an 11,000-RPM redline, which will make it the highest-revving production car ever made. Judging by the sound in this video, that seems about right. It's like some sort of Formula 1 car (and no, we're not talking about the new ones). We can't wait to hear it for real.
