The new Continental GT, which shares a platform with the new Porsche Panamera, offers a significant leap forward in performance, but Bentley knows it's a luxury car first and foremost. It's also one of those high-end cruisers that sells in volume with a soft top, so it's no surprise that Crewe already has one ready for the brand's centenary year. What's more, Bentley's design team decided to add some tweed with your open-air date at 207 miles per hour.

Bentley says the new Continental GT Convertible's body-in-white is 20 percent lighter and five percent stiffer than the Volkswagen Phaeton-based old one's, while its roof can fold into a Z-shape in 19 seconds. Presumably, somewhat like the BMW i8 Roadster's does in 15.

But what the i8 doesn't have is Bentley's new tweed roof option, which offers all the style of your Goodwood wardrobe.

Bentley says that no matter which fabric you choose, the new roof reduces noise levels by three decibels, making the Convertible as quiet as the previous Coupé. With its equally noise-canceling Pirellis and a 626-horsepower W12 up front, the Continental GT Convertible shall get to sixty in 3.7 seconds without making the least amount of fuss about it.

Bentley's 20-way adjustable seats come with a new-generation neckwarmer, which is both warmer and quieter than before. It also features a chrome center vane stretching the full width of the duct. Combined with the heated steering wheel, seats and armrests, the Continental GT Convertible has more heat sources than a Predator movie.

Choose a polished wooden steering wheel and the "digital detox" version of Bentley's Rotating Display, and you get a trio of analogue dials to complement your thoughts about the good old days.

Alternatively, turn up the car's 16-speaker, 1500 W Bang & Olufsen system, and cause a commotion. You have a drop-top Bentley, the world is your oyster.
