The Hyundai Veloster N is one of the coolest new hot hatches, but its sole transmission choice, a six-speed manual, means some buyers are left out. Hyundai knows this, and it aims to give people an alternative in the form of a dual-clutch automatic. Here's our first look of a car equipped with the new gearbox, testing at the Nürburgring.

How to we know the Veloster N will get a dual-clutch? We spoke with N division boss Albert Biermann at the US launch of the car in November 2018, and he confirmed that such a car would eventually make its way to the market. He didn't confirm when that would happen, however. The existence of this prototype making its rounds at the 'Ring signals it'll probably be sometime soon, though.

Though I'd personally go for the stick every time, I'm sure there are plenty of people with traffic-filled commutes that want a gearbox that can do the shifting for them every once in a while. Soon, they'll have their chance.
