Now that the Porsche 718 Boxster and Boxster S have made their official debut, the online configurator on Porsche's website went up earlier this week. I specced out my perfect 718 Boxster S, but what does yours look like?
In keeping with the spirit of the lightweight 718 race car it's named for, I kept my 718 Boxster S fairly light on luxuries. It's a roadster, after all. It doesn't need heated seats and other fripperies.
For the exterior, I picked Porsche's fantastic Graphite Blue Metallic, which on the 911 Turbo at the Detroit Auto Show. For wheels, I chose the 20" Carrera S wheels in Platinum Satin over the somewhat boring looking 19" Boxster S wheels. I also specified the rear badge to read simply "718," rather than "718 Boxster S."
I ordered Porsche's Dynamic Light System so I could get lights that swivel with cornering. The only mechanical options are the PASM Sport Suspension, which lowers the car by 20-millimeters and a manual transmission.
Things are pretty simple in the interior as well. Sport Seats Plus, with extra bolstering, are a must, as is the GT Sport Steering wheel, which is thinner in diameter than the standard wheel. The only proper luxuries I specced are the Bose Surround Sound System, Two-Zone Climate Control and Connect, which unlocks Apple Car Play.
It has a little over $10,000 in options, which brings the total to $79,495. The 718 Boxster will cost more than the yet to arrive 718 Cayman, hence the surprisingly high price.
I kept my 718 Boxster S simple, sporty and minimalist. How will you order yours?
