Pro drifter and Mustang maniac Vaughn Gittin Jr.'s RTR has announced that the 2018 RTR Mustang will hit the stage at SEMA with a V8 producing over 700 horsepower. That's a lot of muscle one can get with Ford's blessing. In fact, it's a half of what the Hoonicorn V2 is packing at high boost, which is still a pretty nutty figure for the road by any standard.
The fact that Ford will keep the GT350 and GT350R around for 2018 without the styling updates found on the lesser Mustangs is excellent news, but what if 526 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque isn't enough for you? Well, you can either wait for Ford to roll out with the next, probably turbocharged Shelby GT500, or call RTR for some equally warrantied, but definitely more supercharged fun.
The exact performance specs of the 2018 RTR are unknown at this point, but knowing that the current Spec 3 RTR Mustang makes 670 horsepower, the 2018 editions represents a 30+ hp gain for sure.
RTR will keep its “three spec” setup for next year, meaning that those with a lighter budget can still opt for just optical and suspension upgrades, if tire smoking isn't the main priority. Yet the brave and bold going 'Spec 3' will end up with a supercharged stunner that's not only really quick, but also secured by RTR supplemental warranty, which covers all the mods while allowing any maintenance work to be taken care of at Ford's selected dealerships.
Regardless of the level you choose, all RTR Mustangs will come with their own dash plaque as well, signed by Mr. Professional Fun-Haver himself. Haver means 'dude' in Hungarian.
