Earlier this week, Subaru teased some sort of modified BRZ on Twitter, promising we'd learn more about it on June 8th. Apparently, that's not the only new, fast Subaru we'll see next week. The company just sent us a teaser image of what's being called the WRX STI Type RA, which will also debut on the 8th.

No specs are available just yet, but Subaru shared a couple tantalizing details of this new model. The Type RA will receive a carbon fiber roof (shown above) and rear wing, new Bilstein dampers, and upgraded Recaro seats. Subaru also promises "gearing and engine upgrades" that should boost performance. Of course, in the great WRX STI tradition, gold-finish BBS wheels will complete the package, here measuring 19 inches.

Subaru first introduced the Type RA nameplate on a Japanese-market WRX in 1993 (a 1998 model is shown above). Like today’s STI, the Type RA was lighter and more hardcore than the standard WRX.

We're especially curious to learn what specific powertrain upgrades STI has in store for the Type RA, but already, it sounds intriguing. We'll find out more on the 8th.
