Jeep's new Wrangler is coming later this year, which means testing of the JL-generation Jeep is well under way. Spy photographer Brian Williams was able to capture several different variations of the new Wrangler testing around Michigan, including two- and four- door hardtops, as well as two- and four-door soft tops. Some of these cars are suspected to be European models, equipped with diesel engines, differing in trims and lighting. First up is the hard top version of the Wrangler two-door. There are several updates to the bumper and fascia compared to the current model, including new spots for the bumper-mounted lights and side markers that reach around the front of the fenders.
Our source tells us this is the European model, equipped with a 3.0-liter diesel V6 that is also expected to be offered as an engine option in the U.S.
The rear still features a center-mounted spare tire, as well as a large flat rear windscreen and square taillights.
Here's the soft top version. This one features smoked out front lighting and some sweet fender-mounted light strips.
The hard top four-door Unlimited Rubicon model is expected to be the first variant on sale by year's end. It looks just as boxy as ever, and features the same new bumper and lighting setup as the two-door model.
According to our source, the example seen here is a European model, also equipped with the 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine.
