Honda's ninth generation hatchback for Europe debuts at the Frankfurt auto show in September.
The car, which will be assembled in the UK alongside the , is vital to Honda's European success, which has been faltering of late – especially in countries like Germany where it is outsold by Porsche, never mind rivals like Hyundai and Kia.
To this end Honda is offering "stand-out looks combined with class-leading space for passengers and luggage...Quality and comfort levels have improved dramatically over the outgoing model."
Its engineers have been working hard on giving the car European levels of ride and handling: while retaining the rear torsion beam suspension, it now employs fluid-filled compliance bushes to improve overall ride performance and handling. Time will tell if that's so.
