Hennessey Performance Engineering and DiMora Motorcar have entered a partnership that will see DiMora become "the exclusive distributor" of Hennessey's vehicles in the Middle East and India.
What is DiMora Motorcar, you ask? It's a company owned by "Sir" Alfred DiMora (he was inducted into the Knights of Malta in 2001), a man probably best known for the limited-production Sceptre and Clenet autos produced in the 1970s and 1980s. More recently, DiMora has been building custom choppers, while we're told development continues on the DiMora Natalia SLS 2, a handbuilt, 16-cylinder luxury sedan that will sell in the $2 million range.
So why is Hennessey hooking up with DiMora? "It's a very strategic connection," said Don Goldman, chairman and CEO of Hennessey Performance. "While we've sold a number of cars in the Middle East, DiMora's s are much more far-reaching than ours. He is a master of networking," continued Goldman.
Goldman figures this connection will be especially important in light of the upcoming Hennessey Venom GT supercar, of which Goldman says he expects the Middle East to become its biggest market. In fact, the first production Venom GT (a 1200-bhp, twin-turbo mid-engine monster based on the Lotus Exige) will ship in less than 30 days to a customer in the Middle East. Hennessey plans to officially unveil the Venom GT to the public at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, with a first U.S. showing planned for the Pebble Beach weekend in Monterey, California, in August.
And where's John Hennessey in all of this? He's in England as of this writing, testing a prototype of the supercharged LS9-based Venom GT.
