The third-generation Mazda3 first showed up for the 2014 model year. At the time, we were happy to see that the previous version's dopey grin had been replaced with a design we called "hot enough to wear an Alfa Romeo badge." More importantly, the new Mazda3 was also a blast to drive.
Now, only a few years later, the Mazda3 has been given a refresh to make it more competitive with cars like the 10th-generation Honda Civic. But at first glance, it looks pretty much the same as the outgoing car. Unless you park a 2017 Mazda3 next to the previous version, it could be easy to miss the changes that have been made.
That's why we appreciate the folks at posting their latest video. It's an in-depth look at all the little tweaks, improvements, and modifications that Mazda made to its reworked sedan. The video goes way beyond the typical glossed-over summary of updates, right down to the nuts and bolts of the changes Mazda made.
Now if only we could get Mazda to build a new Mazdaspeed3.
