Watching people chase down supercars on track with much less expensive cars is always a treat. This clip features a track-prepped BMW Z4 M getting up close behind a Gumpert Apollo, and it's a treat.

For those that need a reminder, the Apollo, sold new in the mid-2000s, once held the record for fastest production car around the Nurburgring Nordschleife. Sporting a mid-mounted 700-horsepower 4.2-liter twin-turbo V-8 and a sequential gearbox, it could get to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds, and hit a top speed of 224 mph. Those are supercar numbers, even among the latest and greatest exotic offerings.

While more pedestrian in appearance, the Z4 M is no slouch either. It uses the E46 M3's 3.2-liter straight-six, and this particular car is kitted out with a massive rear wing, among other upgrades. The two together on track make for one hell of a lead-follow.
