The opening round of the Super GT series occured last weekend at Suzuka Circuit in Japan. The new NSX-to-be-but-was-canceled-then-turned-into-a-racecar Honda HSV-010 made its eagerly anticipated debut; however it was the HIS Advan Kondo Nissan GT-R that took home the honors by winning the race. The driving team of J.P. Lima de Oliveiras and Hironobu Yasuda crossed the line in 1′52.23″, besting the 2nd-place Eneos Lexus SC 430 and Raybrig Honda HSV-010 by 9 and 15 sec. respectively.
The second round is at Okayama Circuit in Japan. The HIS Advan Kondo GT-R will have its work cut out for it if it plans to win the next race because it'll be handicapped by a weight penalty (all race winners have to carry extra weight to even the playing field).
Also, there's a cool video on You Tube that features the car. Click on this link.
