Oh, your Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat makes 707 horsepower with a big honkin' supercharger? That's cute. Hennessey Performance just built a brand-new, sixth-generation Camaro SS that makes 44 more horsepower, no blower required. And it just became the first new Camaro to top 200 mph.
Hennessey's breathing improvements include new CNC-ported cylinder heads, a new cam, valvetrain upgrades, and a full new exhaust. So equipped, the Camaro's output jumped from 455 stock horsepower to 605. A 150-shot of nitrous got it up to 751 horses at the flywheel, 649 at the rear wheels, .
All that was enough to push the new Camaro to a GPS-verified 202.1 mph at Continental Tire Proving Ground in Uvalde, Texas with Brian Smith behind the wheel. You may remember him as the driver who took Hennessey's 774-hp supercharged Mustang GT to a screaming 207.9 mph at the same track last summer.
These are good days to be a muscle car fan.
